    I have a classical dressage background, that implies a lot of lateral movements 😉and what Alicia is teaching it's the most accurate way to solve the issues. Thank you dear Alicia for bringing this explanations available to everyone who is willing to learn properly 🤗

    I personally ride a LOT of lazy horses and it’s always a little trippy switching to a more forward horse! As of right now I’m taking a corse the matches me to a horse and safe to say she is very forward for me and I have trouble halting or slowing this video really helped me to understand how I can work with my horse in a better and more comfortable way for the both of us!🤩❤

    That extended trot is amazing!! i don’t do dressage, but in an extended trot dont you have to have the back legs extended a bit more? it looks like the back legs aren’t stretched out as much as the front. just curious! 💕

    Love all these videos! They are so helpful! I was wondering if maybe you guys can do a video on ideas on how to work with your horse when you don't have a saddle to ride in. Im riding in a bareback pad and just kind of trying my best lol while I wait for my new saddle that is the right fit. But it won't come til August at the earliest. :( So any advice would be appreciated!! Thank you!

    My instructor told me to imagine holding the cutest fluffy baby chick in my hand that I want to tickle ever so softly once in a while. This mental image was super helpful to me to soften my hands while holding the contact.

    All good information. The only thing I would add is a good walk is mandatory. The other gaits are relatively easy to manage with fitness and training. A pacing or racking walk is tough or even impossible to improve.

    Fear of letting the horse go debilitates me , reason being I’m scared of losing my balance and coming off . I really battle to get the 20/80 in my heels and my feet slide back and I tip forward. What are excercises we can do to help feel that weight down in the feet ? I feel every time I do that the horse stops and goes to a walk ? What am I doing wrong 😫😫😫

    • @YourRidingSuccess
      @YourRidingSuccess День тому

      Great job reaching out and it is normal to feel unstable when you lose your balance so well done on recognising this and wanting to improve it! The best way to find your 80/20 is to first check your stirrups are providing you with enough support that you have bend in your knee and at halt or walk can easily stay up in 2 point without losing your balance. You may need to make them shorter so you can do this. Then practise staying up in 2 point where you are “standing on the ground” and not gripping at halt or walk and then progress to trot and canter and then progress to sitting up in trot and canter without losing your 80/20. Let us know how you go!

    I’m only recently getting back into riding and I’m riding in a dressage saddle, therefore trying to ride with long stirrups, it’s not possible to have short stirrups because of the knee blocks.. and I’m finding that my knees are really hurting. Even sometimes my feet hurt ! Why is this?

    I’m 6’1 and I struggle with keeping my legs long so I can sit in the saddle correctly. I scrunch up my legs to apply leg pressure which brings my heal up and in turn throws off my center of balance in the saddle and then it throws my weight out of the saddle. 😅😂

    hello Alicia! thank you so much for your videos. I train in a dressage school and I ride a mare which is around 15 years old. my question is: sometimes we ride and we get enough connection, but when it comes to transitions, mostly the downward ones like rrot to walk or canter to walk we loose connection. what do you recommend us doing? thank you again and greetings form Russia😊

    • @YourRidingSuccess
      @YourRidingSuccess 15 днів тому

      Thanks for reaching out and glad you are loving the channel! If you lose the connection in the transitions it means you have lost control of an element of the horse before connection. Ie suppleness or balance on the horses 4 feet or rein contact. It would help you to film your ride and watch the horses way of going when it is connected and then watch the way of going when you lose the connection and you will see what you are losing. Let me know how you go!

    I LOVE how you think ahead of what could happen. Brilliant !!! Safety first !!! On a hack I had an experienced horse whirl out from under me. I have a Gtand Prix horse that I trained myself from the beginning. My horse is only turning 9 in a few days. I always get the comment "lacks throughness". My horse makes no mistakes. We ride a perfect test and still we got a 60%. I loosened the chain and changed for a wider snaffle and then have been concentrating on my connection. In a short time, I've ridden much better with the horse looking like a different horse.
